Hebrews 3-15 As it says, “Oh, that today you would listen as he speaks! Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” 16 For which ones heard and rebelled? Was it not all who came out of Egypt under Moses’ leadership? 17 And against whom was God provoked for forty years? Was it not those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did he swear they would never enter into his rest, except those who were disobedient? 19 So we see that they could not enter because of unbelief.[NET]
Those who are trying to please God in their own strength and deeds will focus on the cause of disobedience. They will miss the true cause, as we see in the last sentence: unbelief.
Unbelief is why that generation could not enter into the rest of God. God rested from all His works on the seventh day. We, too, are to be like Him and rest from all our works. We are to believe in the great work He has done for us.
Belief generates grateful and joyful obedience. Belief gives us the true joy of hope. When Jesus went to raise Lazarus from the dead. He told them, “Only believe, and you will see the Glory of God.” Today, I tell you the same.
Amen! Belief and obedience are required for Divine peace. Thank you for sharing His word and your time, talents, and treasure.
